Kerry Wood, CFRE
Vice President of Resource Development

Kerry Wood is the Vice President of Resource Development and Communications for the Foundation for California Community Colleges, a position she has held since 2008. In this role, Wood is responsible for developing and guiding the organization’s resource development, marketing, and communication strategies and overseeing the Foundation’s fiscally sponsored programs. She led, alongside all 112 California Community Colleges, the three-year, Osher Initiative for California Community College Students statewide fundraising campaign, culminating with $68 million in funds raised as of June 2011. This has created the largest endowment for community college student scholarships in the nation. In addition, $45.7 million in grants and other funding has been raised during Wood’s tenure to benefit the Foundation and Chancellor’s Office programs to benefit the California Community Colleges.
With more than 18 years of experience in philanthropic development and leadership and nonprofit marketing and communications roles, she served with Mercy Foundation for 12 years as a Director, and three years as Director of Institutional Advancement for the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. In 2008, Wood earned the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification, a designation held by only 5,500 professionals in the world. In fall 2011, she was named “Outstanding Fundraising Professional of the Year” by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), California Capital Chapter, as part of National
Philanthropy Day.
Wood is a past president of the California Capital Chapter of the AFP, and a member of the Council for Resource Development and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Wood is a community college alumnae and holds a bachelor’s degree in business marketing and a master of arts in communication studies, both from California State University, Sacramento, where she is also currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education leadership.
