Two additional California Community Colleges meet fundraising challenge for statewide scholarship en - Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Two California Community Colleges have increased the amount of permanent scholarship support available to their students by reaching their fundraising goals for the California Community Colleges Scholarship Endowment challenge, raising a collective $1,208,283 for the effort. Coastline Community College and East Los Angeles College are the fourth and fifth colleges statewide to reach this milestone as part of a three-year effort to build a $100 million endowment for California’s community college students.

Nursing education grant support innovative community college – university partnerships - Monday, July 20, 2009
Grants for innovative nursing education have been awarded to seven California Community College – university partnerships for the second phase of a two-part initiative. The partnerships will receive up to $250,000 each to develop models of how colleges can create seamless transitions between associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree nursing programs, creating a better educated nursing workforce.
 
California Foster Youth Gain Critical Experience in Fabrication and Manufacturing Summer Camps - Monday, June 15, 2009
Starting today, California foster youth will have the opportunity to learn critical skills in manufacturing trades, an industry currently facing high demand as the workforce shifts due to retiring baby boomers. Thanks to funding provided by Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs (NBT), the Foundation for California Community Colleges will hold four Fabrication and Manufacturing Summer Camps at community colleges throughout the state this summer.

Foundation Appoints Vanessa Whang as General Counsel - Sunday, February 15, 2009

The Foundation for California Community Colleges has hired Vanessa W. Whang as its General Counsel, a newly created position that will oversee the Foundation’s corporate legal initiatives. Her appointment was effective February 9.
